"Perspectives on Same-Sex Marriage"
I can understand where President Barrack Obama is coming from when he states that he supports civil unions and equal rights for same sex relationships, but does not want to legalize it on a federal level. It is not a consistent stand point but one that keeps American tensions at a minimum. For example I have roommates that smoke marijuana in the rooms a lot. Though I do not condone it, I do not judge them for doing what they do. To each is there own. But on a federal standpoint it is against the law to have marijuana at all without a medical card. Obama, I believe would agree with Nava and Dawidoffs that it is against the basic rights of lesbians and gays who wish to marry, but its can be left to the state legislation, not federal government, to allow marriage of gays and lesbians.
