Advertisements

Advertisements are all around us. It is said that us consumers are exposed to as many as 5,000 a day today. Back in the 1970's people were exposed to only about 500 ads a day. There are multiple marketing strategies that huge corporations to small businesses use to appeal their product to the people. It seems like the goal of most marketers and advertisers nowadays is to cover every blank space with some kind of brand logo or a promotion or an advertisement. Marketers have found a way to use parking stripes, postage stamps and floors, even buses and buildings, like a target ad which practically engulfs an entire New York city block. To reach people, advertisers have had to get much more creative digitally inserting virtual products within shows and even video games, making them part of the entertainment instead of a break from the entertainment.

  1. I agree with you as well. Advertisements are all around us. It is not surprising that we are exposed to as many as five-thousand advertisements per day. This indeed is a huge jump from the approximate five-hundred ads that we where exposed to in the 1970's. I have seen and noticed in the past week more advertisements then ever before after reading this weeks chapter. From gaming, movies, web surfing, articles, newspapers, and media applications for devices, advertisements are placed everywhere. With the new digital creative advertisements in out new technology we don't even realize when we are viewing advertisements.

  2. I found it really interesting that in the 1970's people were only exposed to about 500 ads daily, and now we are exposed to 5,000 ads everyday. It just goes to show how many advertisements we are exposed to that we don't even realize. 5,000 ads a day seems like a lot until you really think about all of the ways that agencies promote their ads. Advertisements are plastered on buses, buildings, during t.v. shows, the list goes on and on. For many companies and products getting their ads out there for the public to see is essential to selling their products or services.

  3. That is crazy how much more ads we see a day then in the 70's. Media has become such an important part of everyday life it is taking over. It is ridiculous how every empty space there is it is filled with advertisements. Even in movies there are advertisements such as the computers they use, or the clothes they wear. THere are many creative ways that people advertise today. When walking to La Vics from 11ths street I see advertisements everywhere from buses, schools, street signs, and billboards. There are so many products out the to buy that no amount of advertising would be enough. Advertising would only increase over the years to try and get a competitive edge over the competition.
